Back in the 1950s, when television was just starting to be in most households, Mendez was featured quite a few times.
If you stop and think about it, this was before Severinsen, Hirt, Alpert, etc. In fact, it was fairly rare for other famous players such as Armstrong and James to be on the tube.
Mendez played on the following TV shows during the 50s and 60s, some of which he appeared several times.
Ray Noble Show
Spade Cooley Show
Milton Berle's Texaco Star Theater
Francis Langford's Star Time Show
Loretta Young Show
The Red Skelton Show
The Dinah Shore Show
Ed Sullivan Show
Pinky Lee Show
Art Linkletter's House Party
A few of the dozens of radio shows he performed on include:
The Bing Crosby Show
Red Skelton Show
Al Pearce Show
Kay Kayser Show
ANYONE OUT THERE RECALL SEEING OR HEARING SOME OF THESE WHEN YOU WERE A KID? |

I can remember seeing Mendez on the Ed Sullivan Show a couple of times. Once with his sons as well. Great playing! _________________ Bill
