Any one that doesn't include the Yankees!
(Oriole fan here...One day, after we're done being a training camp, we will return to being a great team...Now, I'll probably never see it, but maybe my son has a chance ) _________________ Brandon J. Elliott

St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Yankees.
I'm really surprised that the Cards weren't on the list, considering they are the only team to have already clinched a playoff spot. They have a great line-up. Maybe this is the year.

How about a "world series" that admits that there is more to the "world" than the US? |

I actually tried adding several more options to pick from... but I think we are limited to a certain amount when it comes to polls for some reason. I definitely didn't want to leave the Cards out, because they are doing so well this season. _________________ J. Fowler

That will be the small world of the U.S. Where very few people hold a passport, "cos there's nuttin yuh can't see right here in the good ole US of A"
The WORLD doesn't care for the game you're arguing about.
The rest of us play cricket, rugby and football (translates as soccer).
So...How about Real Madrid vs Boca Juniors
.....England vs New Zeeland
.....India vs Australia
.....France vs Brasil _________________ Haagston US3 Bb Trumpet

I am not naive enough to believe that the Red Sox will get to the WS, but I am still hopeful. Sox vs. Cubs would almost be too much, but I'd love to see it. I'll bet you that the TV execs are praying to whatever god(s) they believe in for this to happen. Can you imagine the ratings on this one? Heck, people might even stop watching televised poker to tune in to it.
I am looking forward to this years playoffs, though. Assuming Boston gets in, I will have some awesome series to watch with whichever team(s) they play. I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch, though. The last three game series with the Yanks could push them out completely, which would be about what I would expect to happen. Bucky (censored) Dent all over again...
After last year with the ALCS game 7 debacle, I swore off baseball... okay, I made it all the way till spring training before falling off the wagon... If it is an ALCS matchup of Yanks vs. Sox again I may develop a nervous condition.
Anxiously,
Josh
P.S. - Yankees suck. |

You must have cared enough to post, huh? I wouldn't post on (or for that matter even READ) a cricket thread. Why do you baseball haters seem to feel the need to hijack every baseball thread out there and say how no one outside the US cares? You may be right. So what? If you don't care, move on. |

Now that we've lost the gold medal in olympic basketball with our NBA allstars...to Argentina (losing three times in all I believe), we surely should stop calling the NBA championship winners "world champions"; same with baseball...when was the last time we won that? (I know we mostly send college kids, but winning is winning). Don't the Japanese pro teams play our MLB teams pretty well in exhibition? I say our MLB champion should have to play the champions of Japan, Korea, Cuba and whoever else before we say they are World Champions...for now they're just North American Champions.
And we wonder why some people hate us so much...we're arrogant and largely oblivious to the rest of the world.
Now everybody smile...it's only an opinion. |
