Josh,
Thanks for catching the typo! It's nice to have lots of eyes looking at these lists to find all of the errors. I typed his name enough times to "know it" well, but I'm sure that since my last name is Reaban, I just went on autopilot and typed Rea. Anyway, Thanks!
I fixed it in the above list. _________________ Derek Reaban

Derek:
This is a fascinating one for me-Seeing some of the interesting players who have played this gig: former members of the Met orchestra, principal trumpeters of present orchestras, guys I played with years ago and busy free-lancers. Keep up the good work!

PS I went to see the London Symphony twice this week at Carnegie. On Thursday Rod Franks played an unbelievable Mahler 5th on a Bb.(!!!!). Last night Maurice Murphy play the D trumpet part in the Rite of Spring on a D trumpet. He sounded great and he's 102 years old!!!!

Larry,
Glad you're enjoying these lists. I'm having fun gathing this information! I've also enjoyed this specific list (probably the most of all the lists I've developed so far). I started going to the SFO in the summers with my family when I was 5 years old and have only missed several summers in all of these years. I've watched the transition of the theater from the old "open air" design (I got drenched during rainstorms during the operas more than once), to the new "covered" but still open theater. I also had my first trumpet lesson with a big name principal player from the SFO once I worked up the courage to call him. A good friend also played in the orchestra and we would meet him for lunch or dinner when we would leave the Phoenix heat for great getaway weekends.
Thanks for your nice comments. _________________ Derek Reaban
