Mr. Adam wants me to get the book by Thieke, but I haven't been able to find it. Is it still in print? If so, does anyone know of an online place where i can get it? |

The only place I ever found it was in the sheet music department upstairs of the T.I.S. bookstore, across the street from the music building on IU's campus...Mr. Adam must have ordered a whole lot of them back then (late 80's) to keep in stock for his students. If I can lay my hands on it this weekend, I'll let you know who the publisher is on it...that might help your search. |

The Book is available as "The Art of Trumpet Playing" by Charles Colin & Mel Broiles. It is published by Colin.
This is another example of a book that had the copyright lapse and Colin claimed it and reprinted it with himself appearing as author. The Harry Glantz book is another example of this. |

Originally it was Harry Glantz-Advanced Daily Studies (more recent versions of this book have been attributed to Charles Colin &/or Aaron Harris) |

The Harry Glantz book (Advanced Daily Studies) is also published by Charles Colin under the title "Progressive Technique for Trumpet."

The Thieke book "Art of trumpet Playing" is a really fantastic book. I use it regularly withmy teacher. The only negative aspect of the book is that it does not offer suggestions as to how the studies could be articulated differently. I am sure your teacher will help you with that aspect. |
