I played both about a year ago. My fuzzy recollection is that they played pretty similarly. I'm not a high-register guy, so can't help you there. Don't see how you could go wrong with either one, but you need to play each to decide. |

Thats why I'm posting on here - I can't get a 1503 to try out.
I'd have to import one from PC King.
I can get a 3051 to try though...
but the Getzen claims to have a "heavy gold brass bell" and the Kanstul is a normal weight yellow brass.
Currently play a B&S Elaboration 3178/2 (72 bell) and GR Tech 66Q* (like C* cups, large backbore). Looking for more edge without losing too much of the broad, warm 72 bell sound. Shallower mouthpieces don't work for me.
All the Bach 72's I tried were not as good as this top of the line B&S. Only a good 37LR was worth considering.
If all I had to do was practise at home the 3178 would be fine but its too nice sounding and I cannot hear myself over 2 saxophones and 300 people singing. DO I need a microphone and amplifier or another trumpet????? |
