Just wondering, since most of us have at least 2 and many of us have more than 10, what are the most rare, sought after vintage mouthpieces? Can you name 6?

I think one is a Bach Mt. Vernon 3C, I'd also say that the Mt Vernon 1 & 1.5C would be pretty rare also.

The vintage mouthpieces that bring the best prices on Ebay are any Bach NY or Mt Vernon sizes 1 1/2C through 3C, also the small 17C or 17C1.(Small, but played by Clifford and Roger Ingram.)
Also there's the Al Cass, any size, some of which have brought rediculously high prices. I saw at least one that went for $500. !
Monette mouthpieces usually bring over $100.00.

I sold a mint condition Olds Mendez trumpet mouthpiece for $132 on eBay a few years ago. I never dreamed the price would go so high.

I was just wondering why vintage mouthpieces sell for so much. Is it just a collector thing or do they really play better than modern mouthpieces?

I have cornet mouthpiece that reads

"VINCENT BACH CORP MT VERNON NY 7C"

Don't recall where I picked it up but probably came with a used horn I purchased. Has nicks, etc. but just curious if this is one of the Mt Vernons I hear folks rave over and has collectible value.

Mt Vernon 7C's usually sell for $30 or so, they are not very sought after. Since it is a cornet mouthpiece, you probably couldn't get more than $20.

What I mean by straight no letters is Bach 3C has a letter where a Bach 3 doesn't. The 'no letters' have deeper cups than lettered ones and great sound.

Allen (ARB) if you have one in your drawer that means you don't use it so I'll offer you 10 bucks for it. Probably a Kanstul copy anyway but I'll still take it. Wow, blowing clams with that mpc would make up for the clams all right. Won't feel so bad cause I'd be looking so good.
