Thank you to this forum for clearing up something for me...
Many times while practicing, I could swear that I hear the phone rining. I'll stop mid-phrase to answer it, but it's never ringing. My wife used to think I was losing my hearing or was going crazy(crazier?). THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for helping me understand that this happens to other people and that it's actually a very good thing. Had I not found out that I was, in fact, hearing the harmonics, I would have visited a hearing specialist for testing. hahaha, so you also saved me some cash!
For some reason, my trumpet sound does not bother my dog. In fact, she loves it and is always trying to smell the inside of the bell and lick my trumpet. Strange, no? _________________ Michael Patrick Wall, Ed.D.

I'll tell you what trumpets bother at my house - CATS! Just the sound of a trumpet case latch opening (or case zipper, for that matter) will clear the room. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Well, this certaily explains something. More than once I've been asked to stop playing in the house because my wife heard the phone ringing ... but it wasn't! |
