The first two are the same cornet......a good instrument when it was made in the mid 1920's...these were the mainstay of brass bands in the UK in the inter war period. The bore is small,..has the detachable 'shank' between the instrument and the mpc...was originally made in high pitch and has been converted nicely....non-original case. Good instrument for teaching beginners or as a 'toy' for amusement...may be collectable depending on interest and country.....fairly useless for any serious modern band use in the UK.
Third advert is for a Besson 600 in poor condition. The '600' is an inexpensive instrument intended for 'students'....has very good tone and intonation in a good example and is frequently used on the back rows of intermediate bands in the UK...a good instrumetn for the price in a good example...made from mid 80's to late 90's......good ones have been fetching about £200+ on e-bay although prices have been a little low (on most brass) this last few weeks. Regularly comes up for sale on e-bay often in 'as new' condition.....bulky case on earlier '600's. Has the B&H valves with exposed springs and black plastic guide rings like 'Sovereign'...uses some other 'Sov' components. Is very popular with owners of good examples...may be hated by others. My band has two used on the back-row/spares for emergencies and visitors, they are excellent. G24 mpc was supplied but a DW mpc will give superior characteristics to this cornet.
The last advert for '400' by B&H....this is an imported cornet for students and junior bands etc...most are hated by everybody. made in several different countries during late 80's to late 90's. Some of the Czech made examples are actually very good instruments far out of their price range which was the cheapest cornet on the UK market....some of the 'others' are just about good enough to start beginners on...
Hope some of this helps.... |
