Hi everyone;
I recently purchased a Xeno and it has the matte silver finish or shotblast finish. The guy at the store said it was lacquered, but I don't think so. What's the best way to care for this finish?

Thanks!!~

Sounds like silver, not lacquer, then. So, Tarnishield, or any decent polish. Don't rub too hard or too often as you'll wear it to a smooth finish, negating the "shotblast" effect. I like the microfibre cloths from Walmart and other "fine shopping establishments".

Don, ole pal, you ARE indeed correct that the silver shot blast Zenos are not lacquered; HOWEVER, if you'd used the same logic for determining the finish on my Selmer Paris Chorus 80J Anniversay Edition you'd have been wrong. The Anniversary is shot blast silver covered by lacquer.

One of our Colorada trumpet-buddies keeps his silver shot blast (unlacquered) Kanstul flugel in a treated silverware bag. That strategy is keeping his finish pristine.

Darn, knew I should have played that at our last trumpet fest!

IF it's lacquer, the tip I have from several outstanding techs is Pledge (furniture polish/dusting spray).
