|
|
Just wondering if anyone had an old Olds Opera bell in good shape sitting around? I have a brother in law in Industrial Marteials and Manufacturing Technologies and if I could get one I would like to have him help me make a mandrel for it! I also would like to have a bell for the obvious desire of mounting it on a trumpet to play the snot out of it!LOL
I already talked with Allied Supply to see if they had it sitting on a shelf in the back room and no luck! I also checked with Mr. Kanstul and he does not have it either. The guys at Allied Supply are guessing they had it reconfigured some time ago to reuse it or recycle it into something more to their liking! _________________ The only easy day was yesterday! |

Why the Opera? I didn't think those horns were very popular.... _________________ Mark LaSavio

They might not have been back when they where made but today large bells with large throats and large bores are in fashion. I generally tend to like most everything Olds has made to date that I have tried. Not tried one of those though! It is not a problem to find a .470 valve block to be a doaner but finding a bell or mandrel is like trying to find chicken teeth!
Also when they show up on ebay they show up in like new condition with opening price of about $1500 and go fast! So not likely I could ever own an original at all short of winning the lotery! _________________ The only easy day was yesterday! |

Since General Motors no longer produces the Olds line, it should be easy to find Olds parts in most junk yards. _________________ Martin Wizzer Bb trumpet

I would be interested in finding a large bore valve block...any ideas where I could pick one up? _________________ Mark LaSavio
