What are some great pieces and where are the best places to get them? I am involved in a pretty decent brass group now and I am about to start another one next year.
I have been to JW Pepper and a number of other places listed here at the TH.
There is soo much to choose from!
Eric

BTW I recieved my Stomvi Elete Picc the day before we were to perform the Canadian Brass version of "Amazing Grace" and I had little trouble playing the part. It is a different beast but the Stomvi is easy in that regard.

P.S.
Here is a site that offers some free Brass music. Some of it is pretty good.

I enjoy playing:
Ewald No. 1
Frackenpohl Quintet for Brass
Hoslt First Suite in Eb arrangement
Bach Contrapunctus No. 7

This a good start. I have been purchasing my music from Sheet Music Service in Portland Oregon. They have a website ( which is confusing to use) but if you call, you usually can get anything within three days.

Hope this helps,

Dave

When I was regularly playing in a quintet, I was having a blast! Here is a sampling of what we performed:

Ain't Misbehavin'...................Waller/arr. Lee Norris
Amazing Grace.....................Traditional/arr. Luther Henderson (Canadian Brass Series)
Brass Quintet No. 2...............Arthur Frackenpohl
Canzona per sonare 2-4........Gabrieli
Contrapunctus I....................J.S. Bach/ed. Robert King
Contrapunctus IX..................J.S. Bach/arr. John Glasel
Divertissement.....................James Barnes
I. Intrada
Mississippi Rag.....................W.H. Krell/arr. A. Frackenpohl
A Newfoundland Sketch.........Howard Cable (as recorded by the Canadian Brass)
Rondeau..............................J.J. Mouret/trans. W.F. Mills
A Sousa Collection...............Howard Cable (as recorded by the Canadian Brass)
Scherzo..............................Widor/arr. ?
That's a Plenty.....................Lew Pollack/arr. Cooper

also, the Empire Brass "West Side Story" arrangements...

If you can find any of these, they are very enjoyable to play and present some fun challenges:)

Yo Matt,

Is your repeat key stuck? Good info though.

Thanks,

Sorry about that. I hit the block user key underneath my post just for curiosity and found out that I couldn't view my post afterwards. I didn't know what was wrong, so I kept on submitting the post. Again, I apologize.

Sorry for the delay in responding to this post. I at least thought I would mention our series of Brass Quintets. Our company, AnderKamp Music, has 7 volumes of Brass Quintets designed for high school level players. Being a trumpet player, I realized that endurance becomes a factor in small ensemble playing. We have created this series to serve as quality sounding arrangements designed for players NOT at the level of the Canadian Brass. We have 60 brass quintet arrangements available online. You can hear samples of all of them as well as download conductor's scores (not printable) online. You can order the charts and have them emailed to you, shipped or you can download them automatically. Volume 7 was just completed (last week) with the Nashville Studio Musicians (Jeff Bailey and Steve Patrick on Trumpet) and if you email me (whoever reads this), I'll send you a free CD of Volume 7. If we can help any of you guys looking for brass quintet music, please don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. Call toll free at 866.371.9411 or email me at jeff@anderkampmusic.com. Keep posting!!!
