Anyone tried/own this horn? How does it compare to the Schilke and Yamaha pics?

I used to own a Getzen 940 piccolo. It was a decent little horn that I got new for a summer's worth of flipping burgers back in 1980. I sold it about seventeen years ago (only because I was a starving grad student playing only jazz gigs and my rent was due). I'm hoping to be in the market for a new piccolo around this time next year, but I will need to get the most bang for the buck.

Also, how does the Getzen 3916 stack up price-wise against the other popular piccolos?

The one I tried at a conference was quite poor. It was out of tune, sounded odd, and even though I had the leadpipe securely tightened, I was playing, and it shot back into the horn causinf me to bang the mouthpiece into my lip. I could have just tried a bad one, but that is my experience.

Let me begin by saying that I love much of the Getzen Custom line: The large bore (0.462), reverse leadpipe Bb (I can never remember the model number ) is a great horn, a lot like my Strad 72/25LR, but a little more fre blowing, which I like, and less expensive to boot! (I bought the Strad before Getzen rolled out the Custom line.) I also like the Custom Bb cornet and flugelhorn.
That said, however, the one Custom picc I tried did not impress me. I found it much tighter feeling and harder to play than my YTR 6810S, and the sound and intonation were not as good. The sound especially was too thin and bright.
