Hi Gang!
I may have seen this question discussed before but can't remember. Anyway...Here goes. Does anyone have any practice tips on or away from the horn that will help to speed up the air stream? I think I'm at a stage where sometimes I can get it going well and then sometimes...AHHH!!! What do some of you guys think about or apply when speeding up the air? Thanks in advance! |

Pedro,
I recommend purchasing, reading and practicing the book "Twenty-Seven Groups of Exercises", By Earl D. Irons. It is often just referred to as Irons. It has a great illustration of tongue positions, which is one of the key components to controlling air speed. The book has excellent exercises that will train you in finding an efficient ballance between your appeture control, tongue levels and air support for each note.
There are other books that have exercises that are useful for this but I think that Irons is a great book, and I haven't seen a better illustration/diagram showing tongue positions in any other book.
Also take a look at roddy-o's web site. He has some great info, and links to more sites with great info.
Good luck! |

....visualise keeping the lips (aperture) together making a small aperture.
That will make the airstream go fast.
People think that doing this will create a small thin sound...and indeed it might at first (that's when people usually give up) because the new lip flesh in the Mpc. needs time to get used to a new response.

Than, after reducing your lips overture, your can try to have more pressure on your air tank, that way more pressure will speed up your air. _________________ Nicolas Marcotte
