Hey,

Recently I've made some really great process with my range adding probably a 5th to my top note.

Strangely though, I'm finding it harder to play a good B below High C then it is to play High D/E/F (Above that aren't very controlled yet)

I noticed this when playing through the lead part of James Morrison's Ease On In, which goes D/E/G/E*\ D*\ B* \E/ G
The forward slash means up and the back slash means down, the stars mean above the staff.

Or http://www.jamesmorrison.com/free-charts/ease/Trumpet%20%201.pdf

For some reason, I can get the D/E/G/E*\D* but I can't seem to slot that B nicely. I tend to miss it in either direction or it sounds crap lol

Dunno why, I guess I just need more practice, that said anyone else notice this sort of problem?

Chris

p.s. Its a fun chart if anyone like Jame's stuff.

Sounds like you are either setting up too tight for the note to speak
or not hearing it properly (or both!).
Go slow, you'll get it.

Or in a lot of cases if the valves are not aligned properly, you will notice a different timbre or sound quality with different valve combinations.

Some times w/ certain combinations intonations is off or slotting doesn't happen as well as with other combinations.

A valve alignment is not a complicated process. there are a few guys in the country who make a living doing these set ups. IE Wayne Tanabe, Bob Reeves etc

There may be where your problems lies.

Mark
