Lou-
When you say larger varient, do you mean a 3C that has a wider rim than most? Let me know.
In the meantime, I will see how far my various 3Cs insert into the receiver.

Hi Steve

I mean one with a cup diameter more along the lines of 16.89mm (0.665") than the published Bach spec of 16.30mm, owing to manual tool wear before the introduction of CNC, resulting in the mouthpieces getting bigger as the cutters wore.
i.e. (Taken from: http://www.dallasmusic.org/schilke/Bach-Schilke%20mpc%20chart.html )
The Bach published measurements, in millimeters above, are taken from the Bach Mouthpiece Handbook, issued annually with a catalog of Bach/Selmer accessories. It is universally acknowledged that those measurements are all wrong. In the olden days, as the machine tools wore out, the mouthpieces would get bigger, and then revert to the smaller sizes when new tooling was installed. It apparently reached the point where the more common sizes were the worn out ones, rather than the specified ones, and the tooling for the mouthpiece was actually changed to reflect the more common larger cuttings, rendering the original specifications useless. Perversely, Bach refuses to remeasure the pieces now to publish accurate information and refuses to eliminate the obsolete specifications from their product information. No specs would be better than wrong specs, you'd think.
In the meantime, I will see how far my various 3Cs insert into the receiver.
Thank you very much.
This is very kind of you and really appreciated.
Steve

Hi
I'm looking to trade:
1 x James R New cornet backbore. This is brand new and a copy of the B10 cornet backbores which I ordered from Jim New when he was at Kanstul. Unfortunately I forgot to specify that I particularly also wanted to replicate the shank dimensions of the Kanstul B series cornet backbores, and this backbore inserts around 2mm less than a Kanstul B10 cornet backbore and very similarly to a Bach cornet mouthpiece. It is a great backbore, but just doesn't insert far enough into the receiver for me personally on my Yamaha Xeno cornet. SOLD
For:
A Kanstul B10 cornet backbore
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 x James R New trumpet backbore. Rather than being his new S backbore, this is his version of a standard Bach 10 backbore. This is a great backbore, but after ordering one, I realised that it gaps very similarly to a Bach trumpet mouthpiece, and I prefer a smaller gap on my Yamaha Xeno trumpet like obtained with a Kanstul backbore. Rather than send this one back to Jim New to have it cut for sleeves, since I am in the UK, I decided to order another cut for sleeves, and am hoping to trade this one. NO LONGER AVAILABLE
For:
A Kanstul B10 trumpet backbore.NO LONGER LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also have the following:
1 x Brand new (plastic bag never been opened) Bach 1 1/2C trumpet mouthpiece
2 x Bach 10 cornet backbores with Warburton threads from Mouthpiece Express.
1 x Denis Wick 4B cornet mouthpiece converted by Bob Reeves into an underpart for a Bach 3C screw rim with Reeves threads. I'm using my screw rim on another underpart, so sadly anyone interested in this underpart would need to own or source a suitable screw rim mouthpiece. SOLD
Which I'm looking to trade for:
Kanstul B10 trumpet backbore NO LONGER LOOKING FOR THIS
Kanstul B10 cornet backbore
All the best
