I read some responses in another thread about Holton T-101 horns. I have a T-101B. Don't know the age of it because I can't find a serial number list which shows the build date. The horn is a silver plate but doesn't look like some other T-101B jobs I've seen pics of on some classified sites. It has a round medallion on the tuing slide brace that I don't see on others. Is it a different horn or just made at a different time?
BTW, I like it and thought it was the best horn I'd ever played until I got a couple F Besson (Kanstul-made) horns.
Anyone help with some info? |

In 1968 Holton made an Al Hirt special with a medallion on the tuning slide brace:
Possibly your 101B "Symphony" has had a tuning slide transplant?

I have had a couple of T101 trumpets from the mid sixties and they had medallions but not round. More like a crest shape. The earlier ones had a wider wrap (similar to the connstellation). |

the Holton T102S I picked up the other day has a round medallion and a serial of 8838xx and is indeed the best bach I ever played including 50 or so I cherrypicked at the factory in 1986/7
I haven't been able to date it but I am guessing it is definately after 1980.

I got a T101B on ebay a couple of months ago. It has the round medallion:

Does anyone know the difference between the T101 and T101B? |
