There are so many times when I am in a thread or I started a thread and these anonymous little farts keep popping in with their useless and mean spirited comments and criticism of why we should NOT be discussing whatever the topic is or how THEY think it's all stupid etc. And then, I get upset and instinctively fire back at them. This is not fun !!! I have ENOUGH issues in my real world to deal with already.
So I will ask nicely. If any of you feel an urge to say something nasty or inflammatory.... please go to YOUTUBE or something.
Thanks !!! _________________ MARK /aka "musicmork"/ aka " The Creator "

My personal pet peeve is someone who posts in the wrong forum.
This should be in Reveille.
Anyone else feel like venting?
Edit: This was originally posted in a different forum and the OP graciously agreed with my joke about the forum.

In my life so far I've been physically beaten, physically and emotionally abused beyond belief, strangled , shot at, almost raped (yeah but I beat the S*** out of one and the other two ran off)...and my list goes on.
I have lived on the street, been in several hospitals fighting for my life... and I've also saved a few lives as well. I think I've been around the block a bit. So I ask you..how tough do I need to be? _________________ MARK /aka "musicmork"/ aka " The Creator "

You're absolutely right Rusty. I didn't even know about Reveille until now.
I've only posted in horns, the lounge, and cornets and flugelhorns.
I will ask the moderators to please move this. Sorry. _________________ MARK /aka "musicmork"/ aka " The Creator "

I read your other horn thread, I had nothing to say as it was covered adequately, in any case I hope you sort the problems out.
The beauty of the internet and of forums is that although you expect to be treated as you would treat others, or at least in some form of civilised manner, it is not always the case and when you feel that you have been offended or annoyed by something you can let it pass.
Despite the problems faced in your life, I will have to disagree with some of your replies in your previous thread, to me it seems like you have let your grievances slip onto TH and colour your reply. Everyone on that thread was trying to help you, even the "just practise (sic) it" comment and you seemed to react like a child. I wonder how you will react to my criticism, because I mean no harm by it, I am just writing my thoughts on *some* of your replies from that thread.
I wish you well both in life and in your interactions here, and at the end of the day we are all trumpet players, so lets be nice to each other. We should all save our frustrations and unleash them onto some poor misguided string player who happens upon the TH! If not we can always do that in rehearsals
Take care,

That is the reason that I hardly ever post here anymore.
There are posters who want to post frequent insults and accusations regarding the most petty things.
Then if I defend myself, they claim that *I* am the problem here and I get warnings about being banned.
So I tend to not post here anymore.
I just read TH posts to gather info on instruments and mouthpieces.
I have gone from being a poster to being a lurker.

Cool. I really, really resisted the urge to pour fuel on the fire both in this thread and the other one. I almost made it. |

Now get out of MY thread !!! |
You meant a post like this??
Don't whine about other people, while you are behaving like a total freak yourself, mate.
For your information, I Dutch, not a native English. And my advise to you was an honest and friendly meant advise to go practice.
Edit: of course, at this stage my advise now, is not friendly anylonger, but just sarcastic.... |

Sounds like where I've been teaching the last 20-some years, except the district gets mad if you beat up kids that try to rape you- you'd be better off trying to figure out why they wanted to rape you...
That's what you get for living in Detroit, Mork. Sounds like you've had a pretty easy life, all things considered. One just needs to be able to outlive his enemies. Little things like someone saying "BOO" on the internet are meaningless, keep life in perspective. |

Well Craig, Let me state for the record that "I have had ANYTHING BUT a "pretty easy life" as you put it". I've busted my nuts trying to survive and at times I almost didn't make it.
It's true that Detroit is a tough place to grow up and I certainly won't deny that. And I may have become a bit hardened, defensive and possibly a little more paranoid from it.
But you DO make a good point about this being the internet and keeping things in perspective. So often though...people hide behind their annonymity and blast hot air at others. Just look at all the nasty, mean spirited, ugly, vile, racist comments on youtube...they're obscene.
It's a new world out there and in here as well. People have MORE ways to communicate now than ever before...and sadly we seem to be missing a lot of the courtesies and respect for each other like we had before the technical revoloution. It's become a custom paradise for the passive agressives...and the invisible bullies. _________________ MARK /aka "musicmork"/ aka " The Creator "

There are ups and downs to the whole anonimity thing on the internet. Good, you can ask a question you feel embarassed to ask and no one will know.
Bad, you get people who just want to say something inflamitory
Good, especially on TH you can get advice from pros in the field
Bad, sometimes you have no idea you're getting advice from a well known pro and you write it off because its not what you want to hear
Good, you can write stuff like this: Two guys walked into a bar, they sit down and order a drink, then the bartender beats a mime with a ceramic dog. _________________ -GET OVER HERE!

I was going to interject "Don't forget the humor!" I guess I was too late.
Or was I?
