This week's (April 19th, 2009) Chicago Symphony Broadcast http://www.cso.org/main.taf?p=15,1,118 will feature Hakan Hardenberger
in a performance of Aerial, Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra by HK Gruber
"Gruber composed Aerial in 1998-99 on a commission from the British Broadcasting Corporation, and it was first performed at Royal Albert Hall in London on July 29, 1999, by Hakan Hardenberger and the BBC Symphony under Neeme Järvi. The score calls for solo trumpet (also playing piccolo trumpet and cow horn) and an orchestra..." |

That's a great performance. I read an interview recently where he talked about that piece and some other big pieces that were written or him.
