"Trumpet does not have a cornet."

"Up for bid is Spiffy Trumpet."

"Maynard, is it true that you stopped using a Monette trumpet?"
"Yes, it's true. I now play a Spiffy. I use it for just one concert, throw it away, then I get a fresh one for the next concert. But Flo has been after me to start putting them in the recycle bin with the Dr Pepper cans."

I wonder if "Spiffy" is not a discriptive term rather than a brand name. That horn has a really familiar look about it. Sorta like a lot of Bachs I have seen.

The seller capitalized "Spiffy" as if it were a brand name ("Up for bid is Spiffy Trumpet."),
but I coud not find that brand name in a Google search.
Imagine going up to Bill Chase after a concert and saying, "Wow, Bill, you really sounded spiffy tonight!"

Of course, that is the same seller who year after year keeps advertising "Silvertone" trumpet to apply to any silverplated trumpet of any brand,
with potential buyers sending them emails saying "Are you sure it's a Silvertone? Looks like a Director to me".

As for the first ad I mentioned,
that cornet had no leadpipe, no mouthpiece, no case,
but the seller said about it,
"Trumpet does not have a cornet."

But it is still not as bad as another seller from a couple of years ago who advertised his lacquered brass trumpet as "solid gold"

As I recall from my old time adjectives, "spiffy"referred to appearance rather than as a comment on any type of action or sound. Bill Chase may have looked spiffy, but he wouldn't have sounded spiffy.

That spiffy trumpet is the cat's pajamas!

Judging from the the case and separated brace, I would vote for Chinese or Indian. There are a number of offerings that mimic Bach.

Those eBay ads of that guy saying "Minty!" always irritated the heck out of me.
I was tempted to email him to say that I was never going to buy anything from him just because I was so irritated by his pseudo-cute phrase.

I agree with you, Morris! If that guy wanted to have some claim to have "minty" stuff or be "minty " himself, he should spend some time in the Celestial Seasons mint room in Boulder. Gives a whole new meaning to the term. I bought a yellow t shift commemorating my survival.
Interesting tour to take if you are in the area.

The leadpipe on that trumpet "with no cornet" goes into the 2nd valve then perhaps the 1st and then the 3rd. What a sweet design, would be cool to see it with the leadpipe.

I should have said "t-shirt". I don't wear a shift in public anymore.
