A recent thread pointed to flattened horns used as decoration. Some posters seemed to object to the very idea.

While in London, at the Victoria and Albert Museum, I came across this ceiling treatment.

Apparently, the horns were flattened, then suspended with a heavy nylon line.

Enjoy!

Do you have at least one horn that is so bad it really wouldn't matter if it were flattened?

I have some parts horns that if "squashed" would no longer be useful .....other than as art. Even braces from a total junker can sometimes be recycled....I vote no.
I have one of those ISOs (insturment shaped objects) that could never be made to play....I vote yes.
Can I do that?

I've posted this before. I fix up old trumpets and give them to needy kids to learn on. I had one kid that had a sorry horn made in a land far far away that was awful. The father brought the kid and horn to me for some pointers. The horn would not play in tune and the valves sounded like jungle drums on a bad Tarzan movie.

I traded them a very nice Holton Collegiate for the piece of junk. I ran over the piece of junk with my 4X4 SUV and mounted it on a nice wood routered plaque that reads "B Flat Trumpet". It is now hanging in my den.

PS - The kid is now playing a Bach in High School.

When our music director was replaced years ago (a stupid move by the orchestra board) we gave him a framed B FLAT trumpet like yours.

The horn that I have had it's bell blown off by an M-80

I want to find a beater horn that's no good for playing and make it into a lamp. That at least is a useful purpose.
