Not everyone who plays professionally can be trusted when doing a transaction. There is a female NYC trumpet player who tried to rip me off. I have never seen her sell on TH. If I do I will let everyone know not to deal with her.

I just called Jaimie and she was very kind with me on the phone. She gave me the T&T number and she did exactly like she said: the horn was shipped on Saturday.

It took a very long time to get in touch with her because she had 2 big problems: a very bad flu and a broken monitor...

I was very anxious and she had all those problem on the worst moment (when I had already paid everything). It was a bombastic combination...

I'm very sorry for the misunderstood and Yes, she is very reliable!

Thank you!

Wow! Looks like that was worth waiting for.
I always knew pressing TWO keys was too much work to open a spit valve, best to have one key opening both.

I think it looks great for a 104 years old cornet. The finish is original, the valves are original...and it came with the complete out-fit: case, 2 mouthpieces, Bb and A leadpipe, HP and LP tuning slide...

The best part is that THE CORNET SOUNDS GREAT! It's so sweet and intonation is also great, specially for a horn with fixed slides (they move freely, but there is no ring or trigger to make corrections "on-line")

It's very mouthpiece sensitive. With a Bach mouthpiece it sounds like a trumpet, on the other hand with my flugelhorn mouthpiece it sounds almost like a flugelhorn...I can have all the colors in between

When I showed it to my teacher, he just asked me: "Do you wanna sell?"

"No way, dude! No way!" what else could I say!

P.S. Thanks Jaimie. The cornet is great

Great photos, nice looking horn.

I'm curious, since your tuning slide is pulled way out, was the 'standard' pitch much higher when this horn was built?

Glad to hear it worked out. Is that the case you were asking about?

I skimmed through the previous pages on this thread, but I couldn't find any mention of what kind of horn this is. So... what is it? It sure is pretty and I'm glad is sounds great.

It came with 2 tuning slides: HP and LP

LP = 440
HP ~ 452

I always heard that shipping the horn inside the case is not a good idea, so I asked her to ship it in 2 different packages. One with the horn and the small parts (leadpipe, tuning slide, mouthpiece...) and other with the case. But she shipped the case with all the small parts and the horn just with the HP slide.

First I received the horn and 2 weeks later I received the case with the small parts. The only way to bring the horn to 440 with the HP tuning slide is to open it a lot (more than 1”)

I’m very sorry!

I forgot to say that is a York Monarch cornet made in 1906

You may want to replace the handle on the case ... and I do not believe that such would detract from vintage value. IMO such as is detracts from what the case contains. These are available here in US in a universal model that buckles on to the D rings. Am I wrong, but I'm picking up outside case color as medium brown?

P.S. My birthday is in May and it would make a fine gift ... IF by then I can resume playing. Yes, I'm realistic ... regaining my capabilty will take a year (or more) ... but just to put a horn to my lips and make a sound ...........

I'm doing that.

I bought it 2 or 3 days ago. In 2 or 3 weeks it's going to be here

Thanks!

Interesting. Thanks for the info. OK, I'll bite: why aren't you using the LP slide?
