I don't recall him saying anything about tongue placement. He discussed efficiency, minimal air (just enough to do the job), and relaxation. As for pedals, he started the lesson by pulling his horn from his case and popping from pedal G to high G and above with no apparent change in effort. A disgusting display of virtuosity...
