I just want to know what your opinions are on the following Warburton backbores, and how they compare to one another (blow resistance, sound, slotting, etc.):

5
KT
Qm
NY

I'm particularly interesting in finding out about the 5 backbore because I've heard that it is widely used as a lead backbore, but I've searched all over TH and TM trying to find opinions of it, but haven't had any luck...

I've already read all the stuff on the Warburton website, so please don't give me anything from there. I'd like to know first-hand experiences.

Thanks.

For me, the Warburton S cup with a 3 bb is a great combination for lead. Also, the newer NY bb is an excellent choice.

Both combos provide a lot of sizzle above the staff with a nice, full sound below.

Hey Everyone,

I used the 3* BB for lead until I tried the KT. The KT has a lot of sizzle up top and slots really well. The KT is about the resistance of a 3-4 anyway. I talked to Ken Titmus (The KT BB is his design) and he also recommended to me the NY BB. The NY BB is curently the top seller of all the Warburton BBs. Since I am a Warburton Dealer and have the entire kit at my home, I have tried all of the BBs that you listed and I still prefer the KT. A lot does depend on the top that you are using for lead.

Let me know if you would like to try any of these pieces and I can send them out to you to try.

Larry

I have heard the NY backbore is killer. I have played the KT and KT* and they both are great.

I'm pretty sure I'll be using a 5SV top for lead once I get my hands on one.

How many backbores can you send me at a time?

I agree with jhatpro. If you can learn to back off, the # 3 bb is great!!

I use a 6sv with a 3 back bore, I've tried bigger and smaller ones ,and find the standard 3 works best for me.

I use a 3SV top for lead playing and I have a Qm which I got after trying out a BQ (which I loved and I would respectfully suggest you try) I like the Qm because it has such an intense sound and it carries really well, but it was squirrel-y in the extreme upper register after maybe 20 minutes of playing. I just recently got a BQm and hope to have similar results with the BQ. I'll let you know soon.
