Maynard,

I stand corrected. It was indeed "Pete Kelly's Blues". I had a double record set of some of the soundtrack with comments by Jack Webb. Probably a 45EP set, as I remember. Wore the darn thing out when I was in high school. I remember that one of the guys on the recording came to the session hung over and according to Webb, even his hair hurt. Thanks for the correction.

Michael

My Dad played accordion with him. I know not a trumpet but hey such is life! In Germany my Dad often would bring his accordion with him and leave it in the car when we went out to eat. It was pretty standard far for Dad to get it out and join in the fun......Still pulls it out every holiday. How many of you guys do that???? Take a trumpet with you to dinner and end up playing with the band after the meal???LOL

Come on. It looks like the Cap'n used a spell checker and that is a very good thing, so let's not pick on the "According" instead of "accordion".

This can't be a coincidence. Maybe you two are long lost brothers!

Cap,

Was your dad Myron Floren?? I don't know of any other accordian player with the Welk band - at least not on the TV series.

I took lessons from Norman Bailey for about a year when I was a kid (shortly after he had retired from LW). The guy actually had calluses on his chops - and he was proud of them too.
