Little Rusty,
I've not for one minute believed Forrest should walk away from the problem with JH. He has legal recourse and should take it. When he is tired of waiting for a promised refund from JH, perhaps he should take legal recourse. I'm not apologizing for JH, nor would I do business with him as I couldn't handle all the drama. There are other custom builders who can do the job and probably be more responsive to their customer.
Hammer on me if you want, but it appears that all the "whining about JH" on TH isn't causing him to move any more quickly. You either purchase from JH and are satisfied or you don't do business with him knowing how he treats certain customers. One never knows if he/she might be an "unsatisfied customer" like Forrest who apparently hasn't been treated kindly by the seller.
None of us can run JH's business for him from our TH armchairs. If people don't trust him, don't like his business practices, believe his communications skills are sorely lacking and his service after the sale (as it relates to refunds being held for whatever reason) is faulty should shop elsewhere. After all the smoke has died down the matter will still remain with Forrest and JH.
It appears that when one buys from JH you take the risk of being a "fully satisfied customer" like his supporters or a "unsatisified customer" like Forrest who is waiting for a refund.
Seems to me that if JH was made aware of the matter he could have done better as opposed to being critical of those on TH who stood up for Forrest. One would think that JH would have made sure Forrest's long-awaited trumpet was exactly right. The trumpet arrived with flaws. JH could have made a "minus a plus" by giving Forrest the trumpet gratis for his trouble and provided a prompt refund. Instead JH has chosen to delay. It's his business to "rise and fall" based on his decisions, but it appears he has little regard for TH comments condemning his business practices and manner in which he has handled this mess.
Like I said, there is "just too much drama" dealing with JH to overlook other custom trumpet builders who can do the job with far less drama. But, people buy from whom they want to.
Little Rusy, I'm just trying to exceed 1,600 posts, so you don't have to take me all that seriously.

Has anyone considered that perhaps he also is in dire financial straits? Perhaps the lack of the refund is something that is severely impacting his life.
Just a thought.
Peace.
Well, I'm not rich, nor am I poor. I cannot, though, buy a new trumpet to replace the MLV 72 I sold to fund this horn, until I receive the refund. That 72 was my "funeral" horn".

I guess I was a little to subtle. I feel that your apologetics excusing Jason's slow response are absurd.
You missed the point on PayPal, not Pen Pal . It only takes a couple of minutes to put a payment into PayPal and refund Forrest's money.
There is no need for weeks and weeks of time, holiday and weekends not withstanding, to return the money realized by the sale of Forrest's trumpet.
fraserhutch,
I agree that Forrest deserves a prompt refund. JH apparently is not doing so for reasons unknown to us. Most believe his business reputation is on the line whether he agrees or not. Some would say his business reputation has been damaged already and he could have turned "a minus into a plus" had been willing to deal promptly with the matter. The slow refund only adds "fuel to the fire" and makes JH appear to be in trouble financially. I cannot for one moment understand why a refund wasn't expedited quickly after one was promised to Forrest in the first place? Had that been done the "saga of the refund" might have turned a positive corner. JH has only hurt himself in this matter. I've attempted to give JH the benefit of the doubt as others have, but his slow response in sending Forrest a refund has not worked in his favor. I would suspect that even JH's supporters are troubled by his delay on the refund issue and are having difficulty determining his motives for not responding promptly?

I am glad to hear this, sorry it has taken so long, and that you are kind enough to report this here in a pleasant manner. I am not sure I would have been able to do what you did, and put up with what you had to endure. _________________ Dr. Albert L. Lilly, III DM

Same here forrest. Let us know if there is any problem with cashing it.
For all your troubles he didn't do anything but refund. What a piece of work.
Did he refund the shipping? _________________ "Political power grows from the barrel of a gun."
