He gets major props for truth in advertising.
It is scary how much that mirrors my own experience. _________________ Since all other motivesfame, money, power, even honorare thrown out the window the moment I pick up that instrument..... He doesn't hold back on the description of his journey of musical instruction. Loved it!
P.S. I wonder if he ever got any chicks, poor guy? |

That's strange,...I always found that the cornet attracted a better class of bird,...er, I mean chick (I think).......
One that was attracted by my cornet even became my wife and then went on to become my current musical director........
....So that is testament to the attractiveness of the cornet......
.................Although now I come to think about it.......... |

That's a classic! My Martin Committee cornet in high school didn't do anything in the chick dept for me, but nothing else did, either. I do have a suspicion that the guys in the separate trumpet section did better. _________________ Dave Rafferty Devillier Stencil (German) Besson 609

So what does a trumpet player use for birth control?
His personality.

I think he found a chick and actually got married. But she says she has a head ach every night, and he doesn't even play the cornet any more. _________________ Ps 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord |

Looking at his completed items, I see he's just auctioned off a collection of comic books, so maybe his problem wasn't the cornet after all... _________________ paul

connicalman,
Maybe the young man thought the fraqrance of the valve oil from "Austin Custom Brass" would help "woo" the chicks?
Best wishes,

Or perhaps not....
Typical dialogue between musicians on break and and table of college girls...
Trumpet player: "I just changed to a new mouthpiece. It's exactly the same one "Hyperventilatin" Hayes used on cuts two and three of that album he did with Johnny Riggs back in the 40's. I used to have one like he used on his second album but I can see why he changed."
Bass Player: "I got some new KHP speakers in my rig. Cost me a bundle but the difference in response below 20Hz is unbelievable. I can't wait until I get that bigger cabinet."
Pianist: "I am so in love with this new keyboard and the presets. Right now I've got to hitchhike to work but as soon as I get it paid off I'll get another car."
Drummer: "Hey, you and your sister want to check out my van?"
Trumpet player, guitarist and bass player 40 minutes later: "It's time to go on? Anybody seen the drummer?" _________________ Ahh... that old case smell. |

Thanks Lloyd. Good point! There's a bit of an enigma with this author, he who sells comic books. Mostobvious is that the young man is about my (our?) age, mid-40's. Has to be, given the late-70's purchase while in junior high. Second, he recently chose to fly ebay all the way to Salem, MA for valve oil, and did so just prior to giving up the ghost via posting his ad to sell that 'cursed cornet'.
FuNnY piece of writing. One ebay post, two eyes of newt, straw from three of thy neighbor's brooms, oh, and six drops of Salem oil to exorcise this demon device?
Now, to your thought: Valve oil, I can attest, is good defense against 8th grade females who think it humorous to spray girly scented goo on the boys in the back row (just in front of the drums.) It's function as a pheromone enhancer is, in my small world, unproven. Best - Jeff _________________ kochaavim, csillaagkep, αστερρισμός, konnstelacji, connstellation... ...a.k.a. the 28A!
