I was strolling on Ebay one day in the merry month of June, and to my surprise I found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16214&item=3732681145&rd=1

It's yet another private label trumpet like Mr. Kessler was trying to sell.

I saw this and thought the same thing. I think if I were to put my name and reputation on something it would have to be pretty good quality. Although it seems that private label instruments have always been cheap.

I asked the seller if he knew where the trumpet was manufactured and all he knows is that it's an ABI, Anaheim Band Inst. I would need to contact them to see where they're made.

I like the little prop he has so the horn will stay upright for the pictures. Wonder where you can get one of those?

That prop is a plate display holder. You can pick them up in any craft or hobby department or store and also antique shops. I don't mean to be a smartass, but I would think the Anaheim Band Inst. Co. is probably in Anaheim:)

Phil, that little prop looks a LOT like one of those plastic holders that your (and my) Grannie would (or would have) use(d) to hold up decorative plates in their china cupboards. I'm pretty sure you can pick them up in most any "Dollar Store" or other "El Shoppo El Cheapo" type place.

Anaheim Band is about 5 minutes from the Kanstul factory and they are a Kanstul dealer. The horns are probably made by Kanstul.

that's a leap to say it's a Kanstul 'cuz it's sold by Anaheim.
I dunno, but my guess is not, just looking at it.

Well who would? I don't trust something that noone knows about. For all I know, there could be a sock stuffed in the leadpipe...

I spoke with Matt at Anaheim Band Instruments today and he said that these horns list for about $800, but they have them on sale now for a little over $400. He also mentioned that these horns are manufactured in Indiana by a very large manufacturer but could not disclose the companies name.

Not quite the same situation that Kessler Music was talking about.
