More than 60 years of playing trumpet, cornet and flugel horn. Played first chair in High School and married the prettiest majorette -- still married with a daughter who plays 'cello and still keeps up her piano, a son who studied piano at Eastman and does annual recitals although he is now a PhD geologist from Stanford, a granddaughter who was first flute in Junior High but now is in and out of Med. school with a full scholarship, another one, now attending Case/Western Reserve, who played clarinet and her identical twin, Miami of Ohio, who studied trumpet with Al Lily. A grandson, now looking at colleges, started drumming in clubs in Houston at age 5. There is another girl who's committed to piano and a boy who is making good progress on the slide operated pitch approximater.

In the recent past I have played as many as 50 public performances a year, mostly amateur bands and orchestra with some low pay community and "semi-pro" theatre and Gilbert and Sullivan. I do a little jazz work and a little solo work (mostly churches on Xmas Eve and Easter).

Playing in the pit for stage performances is my favorite gig.

I've recently moved to Salt Lake City spend my winters snowboarding in the Wasatch mountains.

High point of my "jazz career" was sitting in at Jim Cullen's Landing on the Riverwalk.

Most recent pit was "Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" -- seventeen nights for the University of Utah Theatre Department -- Next up is "Shrek" in summer stock at the amphitheater in Sandy.

Otherwise, I snowboard around a 100 days a year, participate in all kinds of paddle sports and ride a mountain bike for aerobic exercise. (I also ride a Ducati for just plain, flat out fun!)
