Cool! Just figured out this is where to introduce myself. :)
Got serious about playing trumpet in high school in Toronto, Ontario. Band teacher went on to become head of music department at Humber College and then University of Toronto, Jazz. High school music at its finest.
Studied with Don Johnson and Bram Smith Jr. prior to and after being accepted at Humber College, Music.
Played with various military bands, small touring bands, community theatre productions, big bands, wedding bands, bar bands. Did some small recordings.
Had great fun until I had problems with embouchure - loose teeth. Decided if I couldn't play the way I knew it should be, I'd find something else.
Went into Production. Enjoyed a wonderful gig at the Royal York Imperial Room 'back in the day' -- got to hear a spectacular big band every night wrapped in an oversize black dinner jacket, perched on a stool directly behind the trumpet section. Heaven.
Anyway, Production work held my passion for about 15 years then the internet for 10 -- and now, a sailboat. I'm helping a friend downsize a trumpet collection and it's bringing back wonderful memories. :)
