I couldn't help but notice when I came on a little bit ago that you have registered on the TH. It's an honor to be graced by if only your 'lurking' at the moment. Welcome to this great place. It would be an honor, at least for me, to rub shoulders with yet another accomplished trumpeter/teacher!! Your reputation precedes you here on the TH. Again, welcome. Please feel free to post anytime!!!!

So that's what I've been doing wrong!

Welcome aboard, Laurie -- now you can help bail!

Hi Laurie. I have read alot about you in the last 2 months since I have started playing again after 17 years off. You never knew me but I knew who you were as I played trumpet with Bobby Layne in Lincoln for 17 years... from 1965 to 1980 and still played the Myron Floren gigs over the next two years after I had quit playing on a regular basis. Was it Pender, NE that where you grew up... I may have the wrong town.. Anyway, played with all the fun guys from Lincoln... John Mills (now in Greeley, CO), Dave Brown, and of course from time to time DennyS. would play with us if Layne needed someone. I grew up in Lincoln and was a Wesleyan grad on the other side of town so never got the chance to do lessons with Denny.

Do you ever run into Dave Brown... I just talked to him last night on AOL... sounds like he is still going strong with his playing and teaching.

Anyhow... it's nice to "meet" you here on the Herald.

Hi Rich
Yup it was Pender alright. Welcome back to trumpet playing. Yes I run into Dave Brown occasionally, and I speak with Denny regularly.
