olks, I have had quite a few inquiries about the availability of the Mendez pieces I have. I've been asked to make PDF's and send them out.

I REALLY need to be careful here. I have checked with David Hickman and he assures me they are ALL still copyrighted and that I could get sued if I started sending the out. Here is some more info I got from him.

The Koff pieces are apparently available through Robert King. Please check there.

The Carl Fisher stuff is out of print, but is available through the music library at Eastman.

Those seem to be the best legitimate resources.

I hope this seems reasonable. My sense of fraternity with all of you makes me want to just send out the PDF's willy nilly, but I want to respect the Mendez families rights in all of this. I hope this all makes sense.

Peace.

Nick

PS: In a reply on TM I received this link to a book of Mendez transcriptions!

http://www.amazon.com/Rafael-Mendez-Collection-Transcriptions-Arrangements/dp/0825825164/

This ought to help!

That amazon link *is* the Carl Fisher "stuff". I just received a copy of it this week. Print quality is very good also, not just a bunch of Xerox'd stuff redone.

I haven't actually played through much of it yet though.

I grew up listening to a bunch of old Mendez LPs and 78s of my father's, and it made a lasting impression.

Hickman Music Editions has received permission from the Mendez estate to publish a few solos and trios that were never before published. These include:

The Brave Matador (trio + brass ensemble)
Tico-Tico (solo + piano)
Dance of the Hours (solo + piano)
Moto Perpetuo (solo + piano)
Kiko (trio + piano)
Themes from "Der Fledermaus" (solo + band; solo + orch.; solo + piano)
Gallito (trio + brass; trio + piano)

Sorry for the shameless plug, but it seems to be on topic.
