Hey,

Is there a James Stamp expert out there who could moderate a forum similar to the Carmine Caruso one? I'm going through this method now and it is really helping. I figure there are others out there who might be intersted in it.

I just picked up the Stamp book, too, and would love to hear from others who are further along in the method.

I worked with another Stamp student, Bert Truax (Dallas Symphony), for about 4 years. I have a website that summarizes his approach to the Stamp method at: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/strasse/7826/stamp.html

Feel free to drop me a line if something isn't clear.

Best wishes,
Matt Stock

Guys,
I could do it.
Although I don't think it'll get many posts because the method isn't as popular as CG or SC, it might still be worth it.
Oh, I've been taking from a student of Stamp's for 5 years straight and feel like I have a pretty darn good idea on his method (if there's a question I can't answer, I'll just ask my teacher).

Dave,
You're correct. Much of Stamp's teachings was based on Maggio and Clarke. I'm just beginning to realize how much the Adam approach and Stamp's approach are similar.
Stamp=never let your air decelerate when descending and never let you air become tense by not thinking thorugh the note when ascending.
Adam=Never lose energy when playing, ever.
Well, they're sort of alike.
However, according to my teacher, CG used to always reject ideas of Stamps when they were both alive (please note: those aren't my words, they're my teachers, so don't reem me if that's incorrect).

Go for it. I use Stamp all the time. I'd be glad to see one.

Sounds good to me, although I don't think many people would post there (don't mistake me: I'm more on quality than quantity). I think the more popular methods are the CG SC and CS ones. It may be worth it though.
What do you other guys have to say? We've got seven opinions: Sean, Barry, Quadruple C, Matt, Dave, Brian, and I. I think we need a couple more... Would anyone else like to see a forum like this?

I think it would be a good idea to have a Stamp forum.

Stamp is cool, but not nearly as well known or practiced as the other schools of chops. Not to say that it's not worthwhile, I have worked from a very few number of Stamp exercises, just not very extensively. Maybe just an archive of Stamp theorem would be better?

I think having a Stamp forum is a good idea.
Great players like Thomas Stevens and Hakan Hardenberger were Stamp disciples. The method and the Poper guide talk about some helpful things I haven't seen in the other books; e.g lip buzzing; lip bends, quick breaths, pivot .....Also the method is apparently still popluar. Someone was looking for a copy of the method in the marketplace and was going to be using it in his lessons with the teacher Laurie Frinks (?)

I am a Stamp disciple, as I have studied with Mario Guarneri, Roy Poper and Boyde Hood. If it weren't for this method, I would have quit the trumpet years ago. A Stamp forum would be great.

1B et al - the Stamp forum is up, so stop by and put your 2 cents (or more) in!

Best wishes

Thanks for listening. I think the Stamp forum will be a great place to share info about a great method.
