Just curious, what's your favorite theme music: TV, movie, etc. I like the music played during the News Hour w/Jim Lehrer. Anyone know what the name of that piece is? I also like, a lot, the music from the original Flintstones.

Let's have fun with this and thanks for your responses.

Mark

I love the theme from the Bob Newhart show, "Home to Emily", written by Pat Williams.

TV theme music...my tastes may be a bit different. I like a lot of the old stuff, like the "Bob Newhart" theme, and practically anything from the 60's and early 70's. As a kid, I used to dig the "Rockford Files" (!) Here's more:

"Johnny's Theme"
"Wall Street Week" (PBS)
"Frontline" (PBS) (Dig the solo trumpet)
"NOVA" (PBS)
and "Taxi"

JC.

I hadn't thought about the Bob Newhart show theme. I like it. It's very graceful and relaxing.

I also like the Wall Street week theme. I wish I knew the name of it. BTW, JC, it looks PBS might have something going, as far as theme music and you are concerned. I wonder if there's a network that consistently puts out good trumpet oriented theme music. Let's see how this thread develops. Something interesting may come out of it.

Hey JC...I'm with you on the 60's and 70's themes! Rockford files and Bob Newhart immediately come to mind! Recently I've been diggin' the theme from "JAG". As far as movies, there are quite a few but I keep coming back to the theme to "Silverado"! One of the coolest Western themes in a long time! Also...if anybody out there has seen the movie (early 90's I think) "Toy Soldiers", do you guys know who the trumpet player on the main theme might be? Great sound!

Yeah, Silverado is fantastic music! As for TV, the theme for the Wimbleton (sic) tennis tourny is pretty cool. Oh, and the Jetson's!

Pedro, check the original post. I LOVE the Flintstones. In fact, I'm a Flintstone Fanatic. I believe, in my heart, that it's the Flintstone theme music that moved me to take-up the trumpet in Jr. HS.

Mark

BTW, I'm a huge fan of the Jetsons too!

I like the jestsons, but the technology of the "future" is so ancient. How often do you see a sprocket or a cog. And computers are much smaller. Not to be too mean, some of the inventions are neat, like the hair styler, and I love the diary.

back to the music....

As If (never seen the show, but it has a cool solo), and The Guardian has a nice song too.

and I mustnt forget, Saturday night live. I love the opening music.

Theme from "Barney Miller"!
Remember the bass lead-in followed by the trumpet solo?
Cool.

Of course, CBS Sunday Morning Theme, Albason, is great piccolo trumpet work.

I can't believe we all forgot the original theme to Chips. I think Rick Baptist was playing lead on that amazing upper register work.

The theme from the "Munsters" TV show from the 60's gets my vote. It's kinda kooky sounding, but has some wicked brass, trumpet/tuba parts.

Johhny Quest, opening theme, when the pterodactyl flies at you and Brisbois hits that screamer. T.
