I hope he makes it down here again. I saw him a little over a year ago at the Meyerson in Dallas and he blew the roof off the place.

We should all be so lucky to be healthy and still able to enjoy playing music (at whatever level) at his age.

Made me realize how much I miss watching on TV The Tonight Show, Doc and all the cats in the band. Thanks for the excellent post.

What an inspiration, geez! Thanks for posting.
Good band and good trumpet-playing leader.

What's the band and who's normally the leader of the band?

(I say "normally" because obviously the trumpet-leader and the lead alto have no problems with competing with Doc when he's fronting the band.)
