Of course to Pops.
Here he plays a relaxed little solo (1.09) without any high notes or other gadgets but the rhythmic and harmonic changes are great. So logic and creative.

Headhunters 'Platinum' Derrick Gardner burns it up!!!

Someone mentioned Ambrose ... I got to listen to him often when he was still in HS. He had a very cool voice AND things to say back then.

I've been playing Allen Vizzutti's newest jazz CD, Ritzville, a lot.

Ambrose Akinmusire's latest - smooth and super-inventive trumpet playing

Streifenjunko - Eivind Lonning playing the wildest and craziest extended techniques in a controlled and very pleasing way

Peter Evans - because if you haven't heard this guy do his thing you're crazy. I recommend getting into him via the album Ghosts or with MOPDTK

Hakan Hardenberger - Grueber Aerial Concerto, 3 MOB pieces and Exposed Throat

Freddie Hubbard

I've been listening to:

Duke Ellington: Never No Lament: The Blanton-Webster Band
Glenn Miller - Greatest Hits
Sammy Nestico - Portrait of A Trumpet
Ode for Trumpet- Alfred Reed
Tony Cliff - Melancholy Mood from Cool Contrasts
Armando Ghitalla: A Trumpet Legacy - William Perry's Two Dance Pieces for Trumpet and Orchestra
Rachmanioff - Vocalise

I've also listened to the second movement of Ewazen's Sonata for Trumpet:

I'll be performing it in several weeks.

Bruno Walter and NY Philharmonic play Mahler. Old recordings, but the performances were great, and that really comes through. Vacchiano was an amazing trumpet player.

Also listening to Bobby Hackett's Jazz Box album. He played with such great style.

Right now I'm hooked on Klemperer's Mahler 2 with the Philharmonia. I stayed away for a long time, being hooked on Solti/CSO. But there is depth here. Not the same class of brass playing as CSO, but solid.

Matt Finley: Brazilian Wish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KEEM2-gXZDw

A fine CD from 2009 which remains (after 3 years) the anchor disk in my car's 6 disk magazine. Great latin compositions, wonderful flugelhorn playing, terrific band and arrangements.

Clifford Brown plays trumpet and piano, the complete solo rehearsals.

Its a two CD set that has recordings of Clifford practicing the piano and the trumpet. There are also rehearsal clips. There are duets with Clifford and Robert Lowery.
