This isn't brass related, but I'm sure lots of you want to keep up with big CSO news, and this is big news.

David McGill is leaving to teach at Northwestern.

Wow, surprising news. I read his book, Sound in Motion, a few months ago---great read.

Keith Buncke(pronounced bunk ee) is the new principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He's currently principal in Atlanta.

Thanks Alex, this has been rumoured for a while, nice it's confirmed. Probably fallout from the Atlanta debacle...

Wow (again). We've heard Mr. Buncke perform several times since he arrived in Atlanta, at Atlanta Symphony Musicians concerts, chamber music concerts, and twice with the ASO once they resumed. He is a really fine musician. I hate to see him go, but I wish him the best of luck.
