Great inspiration for another session in the woodshed and a reminder for me to humbly give back while being thankful for being able to play the trumpet, thanks for posting!

I'm bad at golf too. Looks like I have a promising career in trumpet ahead of me.

A quiet, simple man with a tremendous gift that he never cheated on. Humble, and a joy to be around from everything I have ever read, seen or heard. When Wynton Marsalis says he was one of the most influential trumpet players of the 20th century it has "gravitas" with me. He was succeeded in his position, but will never be replaced.

Yes! This is what I remember hearing when I would see the CSO in the 80s and 90s. My ears were working fine. This was the best orchestra I have ever heard!

A gentleman I have performed with for years and sit next to in a trumpet ensemble spent years performing with him at Orchestra Hall and Ravinia. He also was coached by him in the Civic Orchestra and took lessons from this great master. This gentleman is on around 7 or 8 recording as an extra and a few actually in the section.
The stories he tells of Bud are so interesting you don't want him to stop.
Bud was a constant "experimenter" meaning he was always trying to see how he could make something work better than before and he kept copious notes.
I was in the same room with him a few times and never had the guts to go and meet him.
The first time I heard him, I was around 8 and then new that was the trumpet sound I wanted to emulate.
Bud Herseth changed what symphonic playing was to be.
