Does anyone know if there is a book or (books) published consisting of the first cornet parts for concert band standards.

Thanks...

Carl Fischer used to publish a 5 book collection called Bandsman's Studio for Trumpet. I have all 5 which were given to me by Arthur Statter when he retired. (He recently passed away at 90!!) Fischer then abridged these books into a 2 volume set called "Bandsman's Trumpet Repertoire". I don't think either is in print anymore but you might want to ask Carl Fischer. Lately they have been putting some old books back in print and you might get lucky.

Hey, someone actually responded to me personally. That feels very nice. Please let me know if you're successful in finding 1st cornet part books.

I have been unsuccessful so far. Carl Fischer's database has been down for the last couple of days. Everything else (about 15 locations) have been zero.

You wouldn't want to sell yours?...would you?

Thanks again.

There's a huge, comb-bound book of lst cornet parts to over 600 marches called, appropriately, "March Music Melodies," available for $35 from GIA Publications at www.giamusic.com.

It has the most extensive array of marches I've ever seen -- Sousa, of course, and Goldman, Grainger, Geiger, Gottshalk, Ganne, Gungi, Graebel, Gilmore, Gould and...well, you get the idea.

Figuring each march takes two minutes to play, with repeats, and figuring the average person marches, say six miles an hour, I estimate there's enough music here to get your band from Chicago to Champaign.

Better take some Chap Stick.

Oops, I just checked the GIA Webpage and the book doesn't come up on their catalog search. They might have some stashed away somewhere, however, if anyone cared to shoot them an email.

The complete 5 volume Bandman's Studio is available now at qPress. You can view it right here.

There was another thread of people looking for this book but I could not find it anywhere, I will be sure to update it if I can manage to find it again.[/url]

If you go to the right copy shop and utter the right incantation, a nice bound book with a yellow cover will appear with everything you could ever imagine.
