One of my students picked up a 40's Conn 22b in an antique shop. It isn't playable due to a missing 2nd valve slide. The student is interested in trying to get it into playing condition. Who would you guys recommend sending it to?

Mark Metzler did my 1924 Conn 22b. He is the go to guy for all your Conn restorations. You could say he is the Conn man but not a con man. Excellent work at reasonable rates.

For a quick and dirty fix, the 2nd valve slide form a '60s or earlier Conn Director trumpet will fit. For a nice overhaul that's pretty fast at a reasonable price, check Southeastern Musical Services in Huntsville, Alabama.

I have a 1925 22B that is truly a sweet axe. Wasn't the OP in NYC last I knew? If so, I'd think Josh Landress would be your guy. I mean, how much could he charge to custom fabricate a second valve slide?

Dale's fix would be cheaper, and I see nothing wrong with that idea.
