I know Rick Baptist did some or all of the work for theatrical adaptation, but does anyone know who was playing for the TV show recording in 1966? I love how he/she belts out the C and D.

Thanks

No "she" trumpets in the LA studios in the 60s.

Take your pick:

Uan Rasey
Bobby Bryant
Graham Young
Ollie Mitchell
Claude Gordon
Tony Terran
John Audino
Pete Candoli
Conte Candoli
Buddy Childers
Bob DiVall
Manny Klein

???

I can't say for sure, but it was likely Claude Gordon, as Mission Impossible was a Desilu production and in particular because Wilbur Hatch was the Music Supervisor for the series during its first two seasons (Hatch was the Musical Conductor for I Love Lucy - another Desilu Production - for which Claude played 1st Trumpet prior to Mission Impossible coming out). I wish I had asked Claude about this when I had the chance.

Cheers,

John Mohan

That would mean it's a good chance Claude was 1st Trumpet on the original "Star Trek." show.

There's a YouTube page called "Who Played That Theme?" that lists the musicians used on TV Themes. How accurate is it? Who knows, but these look like the usual suspects from that time period.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmwlAsP2eY8

Lalo Schifrin, composer & conductor. Woodwinds: Bud Shank (1st), Ronny Lang, Justin Gordon, Jack Nimitz. Horns: Vince DeRosa, Bill Hinshaw, David Duke. Trumpets: Al Porcino (lead), John Audino, Tony Terran, Ray Triscari. Trombones: Billy Byers (lead), Dick Nash, Dick Leith, George Roberts (bass). Rhythm: Mike Melvoin (piano), Tommy Tedesco (guitar); Ray Brown (acoustic bass), Carol Kaye (electric bass), Earl Palmer (drums), Adolfo Valdes (bongos), Ken Watson, Emil Richards (percussion). Strings: Anatol Kaminsky, Paul Shure, Bonnie Douglas, Sam Freed, Marvin Limonick, Alexander Murray, Irma Neumann, Nathan Kaproff, Thelma Beach, James Getzoff, Raphael Kramer, Leanor Slatkin, Frederick Seykora, Justin DiTullio.
