Hello all.
Recently one of my friends acquired an Olds mouthpiece from his grandfather. I have no pictures at the moment, but I will describe it as such:
It has a very flat rim with a SUPER shallow cup and a larger sized throat. It is rather heavyweight, like a #3, but it has a much heavier rim that is flat on the bottom outer ridge. The mouthpeice simply says Olds in the curly font with L.M stamped below it. The I.D. is smaller than a Schilke 13a4a, but the O.D. Is slightly larger. It should be worth it to mention this is the best sounding, feeling, and playing mouthpiece I have ever tried. Does anyone know of these mouthpieces? The only reference I could find to anything marked Olds LM was a very early trumpet from 1931. Perhaps this was the mouthpiece that originally came with said horn? I have no idea. My theory is that L.M stands for "Lead Model".

I finally got a picture! I could only manage to host the photo via an ad in the marketplace, so here it is:

It could have been a custom piece by the great Roe Plimpton:

I had a few of these over the years. My take is they put the owners initials on as a perk/curtesy at the factory with a special order horn.
