Does anyone know who may stock/sell Bach metal valve guides??? I checked J. Landress's site but found nothing. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I replaced the brass guides in my '76 Strad ML 43 with plastic ones a few years ago. I like it better with them - seems to take a bit of the edge off the tone. Recently, I put the brass guides back in and hated it - played it for a couple months that way and went back to the plastic ones. No, I'm not selling the original brass ones... _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Dale, as the saying goes "Different strokes for different folks". FWIW the majority of the professional Yamaha Bb trumpets have brass valve guides, however the YTR-8335LA Wayne Bergeron's personal model does not. Go figure. _________________ James Becker

You can buy Bach brass valve guides directly from Conn Selmer. Go online and google Connselmer parts. The valve guides are in the Artisan series. _________________ Steve Hollahan

Are you sure one doesn't need an existing account with Conn-Selmer to order parts? If so that's one heck of a way to treat your dealers that invested their hard earned money to stock parts. We keep a pretty extensive/expensive inventory of parts to service our customers in a timely manner. Oh BTW, isn't this small business Saturday? Every day of the year is large corporate monopoly business day And you wonder why there's fewer and fewer mom and pop/brick and mortar music shops across this country when we have to compete directly with our vendors.
OK, I'm done ranting for now. _________________ James Becker

Hi Dale
Interesting!. Maybe it is because you have the 43 bell or just different preferences for different players, but I've tried both metal and plastic valve guides on my 1979 Bach with the 37 bell, and I feel that it has a slightly fuller sound with the metal valve guides, which I prefer.
Take care
