I guess the mods will decide, but, IMO, there is nothing that violates the rules, nor are they spamming.

5 posts in 4 min with no real content just to gain access to the marketplace. How is that not spamming?

Well, I don't consider following the rules and making five posts to be spamming. In fact I think posting to this meaningless thread was considerate.

Now if the requirement was that there needed to be five posts with "real content" then you might have a point.

But the content of the posts is not the part that prevents the spambots from overloading the marketplace again.

At the end of the day, the moderators will decide and it doesn't matter what I think.

OK I see your point. May not agree but I see it. LOL. Good thing is it is a free market and we can choose who we buy from. We can see their posts and decide if they are a person we want to purchase from.

That is indeed the point.

If so, then I stand corrected

However, if it is so I will join the chorus of people who would like to see it enforced

Sorry to ruffle any feathers
I can't get into my original account
Also Jo-Rae-Me.
I've been a trusted member for years.
I'm just frustrated I can't list on the marketplace.
I've just listed 76 auctions on eBay, of my 30 year collection,
and I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention.
Nothing sinister.
I'm sick with cancer and I can't play anymore.
Maybe the mods could help me reinstate my original account? Please?

Sorry once again to upset anyone. Just my lateral thinking!

Check my other account.

I was a Cornet player until recently.

Actually I'm a Cornet enthusiast..!
Once you get the collecting bug....
But I have to thin things down.
I've been a member of eBay since 2000.
I also have had the same name in eBay since I registered in 2000.
Jo-Rae-Me
I have 100% feedback rating for both buying and selling.
I'm known in the brass band circuits of Sydney, and so is my Tuba playing son. That's a big hint if you're from Sydney.

No, blocking the spambots is also important, and that is why the time delay enforced between posts and additional monitoring of new user applications by the sysadmin.

As for the enforcement complaint, I hear that over and over, but am not sure what to think. If you have a problem with a post then PM the Moderators. Too many post in the thread and wonder why nothing happens immediately. The mods can't be everywhere and this site does not pay anyone so things can slip by. Businesses are allowed more latitude and most folk seem to appreciate it but there are always the vocal few. Note a business can be a one-man show, and the rule is to not allow "excessive" advertising. As always, it's up to the mods and to the sysadmin, and anyone is welcome to start their own site with whatever rules they like.

So, I came to this sub-forum looking for an area for introductions. I came across this thread which made me chuckle. I'm a member of a different forum, and the requirements for getting access to the classifieds--one can't even see it unless a member of the site--are MUCH more stringent! There, one must have 50 quality posts before being allowed to PM other members (they can PM mods) or interact in the classifieds section. "Quality posts" meaning no one word or one line posts. Posts must be an actual question or further the conversation. Mods go through and delete posts that are not quality posts and re-explain the site rules. The reason for this requirement there echoes what has been said in this thread: the site is about community. It's not about buying and selling things. That's what eBay and similar sites are for. The requirement also allows members to find out who people are before trying to deal with them when money is involved. Be happy it's only 5 and the posts don't need to have substance! Please, don't mistake this post as a criticism on the way things are done here. I just find the people complaining about it humorous.

Same thing....5 posts is a "stupid" way (I mean, it will not warranty that a person is serious or not), but as I'm civilized, I will respect the rule.

Now THERE’S a nice way to get started with a forum. 🙄 “I think this is stupid but I’ll go along with it to gain access to the free marketplace.”
Do you think that’s likely to encourage anyone to consider whatever you’re trying to sell?
