Just read of his passing on FB. He was amazing and so underrated. He was the first really great jazz trumpet player I ever got to spend any time around. He was such a great person and musician and will be truly missed. Go listen to his stuff! If for the first time, or the thousandth. RIP Melton. _________________ Van Laar B6

I heard Melton many years ago with Jaco Pastorius. It had to be 82 or 83, he was a very impressive player. |
