If you have ever read any of my posts you know i am a Bill Adam Routine fan. Well lately i just haven't been playing at all, But a return to the simple routine i use usually brings back results quickly. I always do the same thing.
I buzz the leadpipe with my 00TC piece and then use it for the opposing long tones. I then switch to my 00C and do the expanding scales. Well when i switched to it, i could barely get a note out, i mean it felt weird. i just assumed it was my lack of playing, but then i switched to my 00M and the notes came right out of the horn. It never dawned on me to look inside the 00C mouthpiece, i mean i never eat before playing i keep my horn clean always, it was so strange. I did this a couple of times over the course of a few days and was perplexed. Well i started the routine today and the same thing happened. but today for some reason i look inside the 00C. A piece of fuzz from inside the case had gone inside the mouthpiece ad blocked the flow of air. Talk about a "DUH" ! moment for me. I flush it out and CHA-CHING !
I can play again, lol, what a jerk i am! Clean your mouthpiece boys and girls !!

regards,

tom

Way back in the day I had one of the trumpets from the NTSU (UNT for you young guys) Symphony come to me and said he couldn't play at all below low A on his horn. Wanted to know what was wrong. I tried to look through his mouthpiece but it was totally blocked. I took a brush and pushed a huge mouthpiece booger out of it. He was pleased that the problem was solved.

Some time ago I got a very nice looking Yamaha 2335 off eBay, but when I played it I thought I wasted my money. Sounded very "stuffy"

Pulled out the leadpipe to check for redrod and could hardly see through the leadpipe.

Cleaned out the leadpipe and the rest of the instrument and now this student model instrument plays way above it's league.
