Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the Besson Soprano BE924? It says it is delivered with 2 leadpipes (1 & 2). What is the difference between them?

Rain on Parade alert.

The best thing to know about a Besson cornet, especially their soprano models is:

Yamaha Cornets
Schilke Cornets
Kanstul Cornets
Getzen Cornets
Adams Cornets
Monette Cornets (or Coronettes)

But seriously, don't. Just don't. Of course, this is just my opinion...

cheers

Andy

To be fair the 924 is OK - miles, miles better than the 926 and 925 were (not difficult, they were both absolutely awful)

Then again, the 924 is basically the Courtois 107R.

Still wouldn't buy one personally (the Schilke is still better, and the stomvi better again... And the Eclipse the best of the lot, for me), but it's a decent enough soprano cornet.

Perhaps I was not clear enought. My question was:

What is the difference between the 2 leadpipes from the Besson BE924?

Moderately terrible and disappointingly mediocre?

There are two different 924 models:

#1 Introduced in the late 80's. This has a front pull tuning slide like a trumpet and interchangeable receivers for cornet or trumpet mouthpieces.

#2 The 924G introduced in 2011 which is basically a rebadged Courtois.

They are both totally different but could be confused in an advert.

The late 80's one (description absolutely correct) was the 926?

Unless there's some weird/rare model that's virtually unknown?

Odd, I was sure it was 924, or I have seen one with 924 on it.
It is probably down to B&H craziness.

I haven't seen it advertised with two leadpipes. But I would surmise it would be a leadpipe for cornet shanks and one for trumpet shanks.

If only it was possible to put a mouthpiece in both of them and find out.
