Holy cow! The band sounds so great! And the arrangements and studio work are second to none.
Any Wayne...forget about it. Just flawless as always.
But Louis? Man his sound is SO beefy and powerful! Great flug playing as well. That guy has been shedding and really payinghis dues. And I think he’s gonna have a great career ahead of him for as long as he desires to be a pro working trumpeter.
What a treat and professionalism all around. Thanks for sharing!
He looks like he's just lip synching it, like he's not even playing. His face appears to be doing no work at all. He makes this way too easy.
I'm pretty sure I hate him.
Just kidding, of course. The whole recording lives up to the name.
I laughed out loud when I read "I'm pretty sure I hate him."
The dichotomy of hating how much I love his gift.....and how much I want to stomp my mouthpiece into the mud sometimes. _________________ Bach Stradivarius 180S37 (1977)

I'm a fan but so much of what I've seen from him is like this. In the studio, relatively motionless and not interacting with anybody. I think it would go along way towards increasing his fanbase if he posted videos of him playing with others and, you know,..moving. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

What a wonderful treat to hear this band. Swinging their arses off with impeccable playing. Lou is such a talent not to mention the other soloists. I would hope these guys (and girls) are working steadily and the band is playing concerts as well as recording.

So, I'm trying to make a mpc work that I just got off our marketplace, but it's a little shallower than I was expecting. This is day 5 with it, and for whatever reason I was starting to sound a little better on it.
I was thinking, Arturo's not really the right sound model for playing this thing correctly, and unfortunately having Maynard's sound in my head doesn't make me play better, as I learned many years ago.
So I gave this recording a really intent listen, through a great sound system. WOW! This is what brass should sound like, and I got that new mpc really screaming for me.
As much as it pains me to say this, that Alto player really has a great sound. And the bass player. And those drums, sometimes they're prominent but even when they're not they really make the mix.
My only possible critique of this video (and I'm really grasping at straws here just for fun) is it's ok to pan the camera away from the trumpet section for the sax solo. But who wants to watch the Neanderthal hit things? Don't they know we're trumpet players here?!?
So did anyone from "across the pond" attend the concert "under the bridge" on May 27 (2018) as Louis announced at the end of the video? Comments? I can't even imagine any person or group playing an entire concert(!) of music from The Incredibles.

It's available now! Link on the video; playalongs, too. This is less of an Aebersold's and more of a Music Minus One, remember those? I think I'm going to have to splurge.
