I am trying to play my cornet with a blue tooth speaker and the tones don't match. The cornet seems to be much deeper than the jazz tracks from the speaker. I know this isn't rocket science but I would like some help on how to make it sound more like I am part of the recording. Will appreciate all responses on this.

I practice with a Bluetooth speaker a lot. While it’s helpful for matching intonation, tempo and style, it isn’t a realistic recreation of live musicians in the room. It doesn’t have either the volume or spatial separation to create the realistic presence you’re after.

You could get a more realistic effect with multiple, more powerful speakers set up with some distance between them in the room.

If you want a more realistic accompaniment, use Aebersold Play-Alongs.

I have a stereo setup of a Yamaha receiver that has 100W per channel into a pair of Klipsch smallish speakers and I need to crank them to be able to blend in and to hear the music over the horn.

I have a huge Roland 550 Keyboard Amp and a Fender Bassman that can go toe to toe (blend) with my playing.

Instead of any kind of speaker, try some good, open-back headphones -- something like the Philips SHP9500S, which have been available for $60 or less for a few years.

Very comfortable and very easy to use for playing along with a recorded accompaniment.
