Great article, thanks for posting. Certainly a different approach than I use for altered sounds! But I'm sure that would be very tasty for modal tunes. Will be looking into this during my evening shedding session. Cheers!

Thanks for the blog post! Very interesting stuff. Using a minor triad as a way to construct melodic minor scales through a minor ii-V-I is a neat idea. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes the changes go by pretty quick, so it is helpful to have shortcuts to make sure the right notes go in the right spots--but to answer the question/poll...I'd have to say it's altered for me! I try to think about it as getting to know the way the altered notes sound in relation to the root, not about superimposing a b2 minor in order to get to those notes.
