Can anyone tell me what this model is, or how I can know and how to determine its value?

Connstellation B is on the leadpipe.
Serial No: 563508 (1955?)
I'm guessing it is a 38B.

“B” tells you it’s a trumpet. The Conn loyalists will have all the info you need. Value is in the hand of the buyer

The Conn Loyalist site could help you there. To me it looks like a 38B like you said. Or 36B but I doubt it. The value depends on it's playability and over all condition. How are the valves?

Yes, according to that webpage, it is a 1956 Conn Connstellation 38B.

Valves and slides are excellent. Compression also seems excellent (like the horn didn't go through abundance of use nor abuse). Seems to blow well. I haven't played any other Conns in years, so I wouldn't be able to compare in that way. I know it has had the water key pads replaced and been serviced within the past year (chem-cleaned, et al). Just sitting in a friend's closet. Needs to be sold. Trying to give him an idea on what it might yield on the market...either eBay or TH. Maybe we should just start at $50K and go from there...

There's one on ebay now for $850.00 buy it now. Sounds about right.

I think it's worthless so you should donate it to me

Somewhere between 50k and $50? But $850 street value, meaning it should result in an actual sale.

And there's another one on eBay for $2399! but that's the "Wow" version. Since this one is a little older, I guess it would be the "Extra Wow" version!

This one is probably not worth more than $750.00. For reference purposes my collection includes a 1956 38B that is in virtually new condition (no finish wear whatsoever) and I paid $1,000.00 for it, which I thought was very fair considering its pristine condition. In terms of finish condition, neither your horn, the ebay 1956 horn I referred to or this ebay 1962 horn is even close to the finish condition of the horn in my collection and the mechanics/valves of my horn are excellent. Just FYI.

Agreed. I still have the 1961 38B my parents bought for me to start HS. Still mint cond.; many decades here and there on the shelf and even has a recent Andersons NiAg valve replating. $1000 is fair. $2400 would have to be NIB barn find ...
